Guest guest
Hello everyone! I have been lurking and faithfully reading for 4 weeks now and I have a question...does anyone out there have digital body fat calipers and if so, how the HECK do you use them? I am following the directions in the booklet that came with it but I keep getting wildly different readings. I got them because I had heard that the bodyfat Tanita type scales aren't as accurate. Any hints or tips on how to use these gosh darn things? Thanks!
Guest guest
I have them too and have pretty much given up on them. I have to pinch myself to death in order to get any type of reading out of them. I even had a trainer at a gym, who has done my BF with manual calipers several times, try them, and she couldn't get them to work right, either. Oh well - sorry I couldn't help! digital bodyfat calipers Hello everyone! Guest guest
The digital Fat Track calipers give you a different reading each time depending on how hard you close them. That renders them pretty much useless. I threw mine in the trash. I have years of experience with calipers and I was still getting readings between 13% and 27%, which is NOT acceptable. I nearly had a complete screaming breakdown one morning. LOL Getting readings that vary by 1-2% is reasonable. Getting readings that vary by 14% is grounds for placing the calipers on a hard surface and stomping on them. Here's an old post on the subject: ~~ It's really almost impossible to get consistent readings with a Fat Track. I threw mine away and got some big spring-loaded SlimGuide calipers. They're easy to handle and they don't vary much because the springs place a constant tension on the skin fold. With the Fat Track, it seemed to go all wonky depending on how tightly you close them. With Slim Guides, you just grab the skin fold and let go. It pinches with the same force each time so the readings are very consistent if you grab the same area. http://bodytrends.com/cre874.htm digital bodyfat calipers Hello everyone!
