Guest guest
We are having the same pboblems and I would also be interested in any information anyone has around this. Slso I am looking to do some research into the new birth visit and parents perception, and what parents feel about having in many cases only one home visit. I would be again grateful for any info Pat -----Original Message-----From: Val Sibson [mailto:vAL.SIBSON@...]Sent: 07 January 2004 03:09 Subject: D/E grade job descriptions I am on a recruitment drive at present but am finding it difficult to recruit health visitors for the various posts I have vacant. As an alternative i am having to consider other options including community staff nurses - despite my reservations about dilution of the HV baseline. I would be grateful if anyone who employs community staff nurses at D/E grade would be willing to share their experiences and any job descriptions they may have for the relevant posts. Guest guest
Val, it is awful that you are having sleepless nights about this and even more awful that you are not alone in your anxieties. I don't know have direct examples of staff nurse job descriptions, although I hear from colleagues that it is not easy to recruit even at that level. Other suggestions: what about family workers, people who have worked in voluntary sector (e.g. Home Start), sure start workers, psychology graduates, those who have degrees in health studies/promotion, community workers etc? They are all the folk we would want to recruit onto direct entry courses for health visiting if only we were allowed to. My experience of working with people of such backgrounds as researchers is that they have excellent skills, knowledge and empathy, could readily work in a vocational field without prior baggage. Guest guest
I have lit searched the new birth visit and could find nothing. There's quite a lot of research around about parent's perceptions of HV service. I may be uttering heresy but I do think we have to question the whole issue of the rigidity around the new birth visit and would be interested in others' views although I think we may have debated this before or something similar.
