Guest guest
ISOLATION from as much as humanly possible is required for even slight relief, thus the desert areas of AZ and NM. *******Don't come to Arizona thinking you are going to avoid MOLD. Arizona was recently rated 4th in the nation of states with MOLD problems.... Half million dollar homes are having to be flattened to the concrete slab. ******When my ceiling fell in and we started this cleanup activities, I. up to that time , had NO IDEA of how much time is spent on the cleanUP. Scrubbers and de-humidifiers running for10 days. Hazmat called in, as they found asbestos in the ceiling!! <sigh> THANK GOD for ozone machines. NO, it was used in a sealed room, but without ozone being used, I couldn't have made it through the new insulation, dry walling, caulking. The primer is VOC free and the paint will be VOC free. However, the wood flooring will require ozone machine again. It is unbelievable how the ozone " removes " the toxic smells and effects on my body. My landlady bought an Austin Air and delivered it for me to use for at least 30 days after construction complete, but I am using it now and IT IS FANTASTIC!!! YES, I'm blessed to have such a GREAT landlady. She even offered to pay for a hotel, but I stayed at my daughters for 5 days, when theY sprayed the beams with anti-mold solution. I'm still living, eating and computer work in my bedroom, as my living room and dining room are FULL of furniture and office equipment that was in that room. I live in Sun City and the rent out here is great. I pay $650.00 for a 1400 sq.ft. condo. You must be 55 yrs old to live out here. (I'm 61).....When I moved in 5 yrs ago, everything was completely new and my landlady ozonated the entire condo for 3 weeks, followed by air filters and I wasn't charged for holding the condo for 3 weeks. I have a friend who is an environmental expert and he told us to make sure the contractors hung the drywall at least 1/2 inch from floor. When I spoke to the contractor he got insulted that I was trying to tell him how to do his job. Needless to say my big mouth cut loose and I reminded him that as long as Jean's money was paying him he WOULD do as we ask OR get the hell out. I also inspected every panel that was hung, as I didn't want him to do anything bad because of my mouth. I had NO IDEA that drywall was so toxic, as well as the insulation.....YEEEEEEEEEeeeeee GADDDDSSsssssss I had to sit outside until we could seal up the room for the ozone machine. had to hold my breath to inspect panels........Contractors are as much a pain as some doctors IMHO. The thing I have learned from this 6 week mess, is CHECK YOUR HOMEOWNERS policy very closely. The insurance company DENIED this claim completely. READ every word and make sure you understand what you are reading. So far the tab is $7000.00 but $4000.00 of that is new roof. She drained her condo account.....she owns 7 condos as part of her retirement package. I thank God daily in my prayers that she was so considerate of my health needs.
