Guest guest
Hello all, My name is Letitia and this is my first time posting. Here's my brief story: I was exposed to mold at my Federal job in Washington, DC which has made me unble to work due to my recent diagnosis of chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia and neuralgia in my legs. I was the only one who was complaining. Everyday I am in pain from mild to very severe, I am basically confined to my bed. For me, I was not able to write anymore after I wrote letters to my employer, OSHA, Worker's Comp and NIOSH to no avail. Recently, I won one of my worker's comp cases due to " allergy to mold " . I had to sell my townhouse before it went into foreclosure, because my empoyer made the decision to put me in continuous Leave Without Pay. (Does this sound familiar?) I'm still able to talk, so I would call KC, Sharon and Larry (fellow mold buddy) to vent. Thank goodness for them, because I was living alone and I really needed someone to talk to because I thought that I was going to die. I call them my " mold buddies " . I also did alot of praying and I still do. I believe that God has allow me to be here for a reason. Right now, we do not have a voice and I would like to help us get a " voice " . We have to make alot of noise and we definitely need the help of others, our families, friends, associates, co-workers to make this a success. Recently, I told them that I have a website that I would like to develop for mold victims like us. I have a my web developer who can input the information onto the website. If the community is interested, I would need your support to get this website up and running. (NO ONE HAS TO DO ANYTHING, BUT SEND INFORMATION TO ME AND HE CAN DO ALL THE WORK FOR US.) I support the writing campaign and I agree that we have to do it systematically. As a certified event planner and I have gotten publicity for my events both on the radio and in print. This is something that I can help out with. There is one thing that I would like to do is to hold a weekly conference call for the mold victims to talk about whatever. It can be your time to vent (smile) I know for me, I just needed someone to talk to who understood what I was going through. One in the afternoon and evening. What do you think? This has been in my head for a very long time and now I would like to share it with you. This is what I proposed: Let's get started NOW! Please join me on Mon. April 3 Teleconference @ 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. OR @ 8:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m.(Eastern time) Dial-in: 712-432-3000 Bridge No. 121019 The conference calls has a 250 participant capacity and it is Free. If you have 3-way calling, please use it. If you have any questions, during the conference call, please send them to mold_activist@... . A follow-up email of the teleconferences will be sent to the group about our decisions. Proposed topics: Mold Victims: Weekly Conference Calls- share information Establish a committee Website - will give us the web presence, mold victim stories, What is mold?, tips for mold victims, upcoming events, i.e. letter writing campaign, press releases, mold resources/links, examples of letters written. I would like to start a non-proft for mold victims eventually. Campaign _ media - radio,tv (local affiliates), organizations, Tv: Oprah, Montel, 360, Congress representatives, Develop forms for mold victims to tell their stories and for our family, friends, and associates April 3-5 Send in your mold stories someone who is not in ligitation (worked for Federal,County, State, and Corporation) with before (the mold exposure) and after pictures, which can be posted on the website. Pictures can tell alot. We want people to feel our pain. (Any volunteers?) The sooner that I receive the information the more time that the webdeveloper will have to do it. Sat. April 8th 3 Live Teleconferences for our Family, Friends, and Associates Testomonies from mold victims (any volunteers) & why we need their help for the writing campaign 12:00 p.m. (EST) 5:00 p.m. (EST) 9:00 p.m. (EST) Are these times good? Any suggestions? I just don't want to hear another story of someone committing suicide because they felt hopeless or the pressure was too much for them. Our lives have been ruined. Our careers have been ruined. We no longer have the quality of life that we once had. No one seems to care about us and we are Americans. Let's change this perspective. I know that I can do only so much and I need your support. My motto is " You stand for what's right, even if you stand alone. " Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you, Letitia s aka " DC METRO MOLD LADY " 301-466-1805 (m)
