Santa Fe man awarded $562,000 in toxic mold case

SANTA FE (AP) - A jury has awarded $562,000 to a Santa Fe man who

alleged toxic mold in his apartment complex caused him to become

sick.

The state district court jury Friday sided with 44-year-old

Gianardi, who said he suffered respiratory infections, memory loss

and lesions over 85 percent of his body while living in the

apartment complex, which is now condominiums.

Gianardi's attorney, Voorhees of Santa Fe, says the owner of

the complex, Simpson Property Group of Denver, failed to dry out

walls that had become wet with leaks.

Gianardi says he lived in two apartments at the complex from 1996 to

2001.
