Seing the intense interest and hot sharing of experiences about human

smells, specially among the ladies, who are naturally more sensitive

than men to the effect of smells, I have translated at last my Italian

page on human pheromones.

Many demands that raised from this thread will find therein an

illuminating answer.

I shall gratefuly welcome any signalation of mistake of orthograph or of

style at salaam@... <mailto:salaam@...> , do not forget

that I am French and do not write in my own language.

HI Salaam:

I was just interviewed by a blogger, and I gave the main address for your

site when I spoke about pheromones, now I'll send this link to the blogger

for inclusion.

I'll have a look at it and give you feedback tomorrow.

Thank you very, very much for your time and effort, sharing all this

information. Fascinating and interesting.

Some of the things I know about, which only gives more credibility

to that which is new. You are truly an expert in your field.

Since you asked, your expression in the english language is flawless

(as far as a native German can judge...)and I throughly enjoy your

expression and style.

Thanks again for sharing your expertise

Thanks to you salaam we can all have a better education on scent, the

vomeronasal organ and human pheromones. Extremely intelligent piece of work! I

will not lie, I had to read a couple of times and get out the dictionary but

that is why you are the expert on this and I'm not. Thank you also for all the

work you put in translating this piece for us who needed it.

I find this whole subject fascinating. I know there are studies showing human

behavioral

changes in response to artificial pheromones at very low levels. But I also

remember that

when artificial pheromones were first used in a commercial fragrance the results

were, to

say the least, disappointing, and the expected following in other fragrances

consequently

did not happen.

At the same time, various animal-derived substances are still used in some

perfumes,

though how much of this is purely fragrance enhancement, and how much pheromonal

signalling is a question that may not have a definitive answer.

It has always seemed strange to me that we might need/want help from the animal

kingdom in our fragrances in order to exude sexuality, while we go to great

lengths to

erase all traces of our natural body odor. Perhaps we want the pheromonal smell

without

the bacterial odors of perspiration, although when fresh these are not

unpleasant, and are

a part of our unique personal odor. This, as we have been saying, is the very

thing that can

be so attractive to our actual or potential partner.

Should not our own natural body odor provide a unique animalic impetus to a

fragrance?

Dear ,

as Jesus said, Man does not feed just on bread.

He needs spiritual food as well.

We have been made to think systematically by our modern western culture

makers (money making culture), that perfume means sensuality and

sexuality.

I learned in the East that perfume means spirituality.

Here is the key to our innate taste for the animal scents. Through the

wearing of perfumes we seek to absorb and appropriate the perfect

harmony of nature, and the different vital forces that it contains, in

order to regenerate our own vital force and to reestablish our inner

harmony.

That is because perfume is source of sanity, exactly the contrary of

what Suskin's book proposes.

In this instinctive human search for balance, which does not belong to

animals because they do not have our complex psyche (psychological

disturbs) and because they do not commit acts that are contrary to their

nature (bringing on themselves physical disturbs), the vital force of

animals present in their scents is as important as the botanical one.

This is one aspect of perfumetherapy (see: www.perfumetherapy.it

<http://www.perfumetherapy.it/> ) similar to homeopathic, which by the

way uses Muskdeer, castoreum and Ambergris.

We love to live among flowers and plants and we need so much their

presence that we bring them into our houses, exactly as we do with

domestic animals. The lack of vegetal and animal presence that comes

with the modern city life is very new and unique to the story of

mankind. This renders our need for a " tridimentional " botanical

and animal perfume all the more imperative to us.

It just seems to me that animal pheromones must be so

different from human pheromones. There's a reason we

are not sexually attracted to animals as a rule. The

characteristic smells of a species must have a great

deal to do with why animals don't usually try to mate

with animals from a species other than their own.

This implies for me that the addition of animal

materials to a perfume would not add pheromones which

would have an effect on us. (I will be careful around

female goats when I get a chance to try Pan though!)

However, the smells themselves do have a powerful

effect on fragrance.

Dear All,

Continuing in along this thread regarding pheromes, spirituality,

etc.

I love what was said, above, about absorbing different vital forces

in order to perfect the harmony of nature. Absolutely, when we add

animal essences, in non harmful and non exploitive ways to our

natural perfumes we acknowledge and honor our animal companions who

journey here on Earth with us, just as we honor the plant kingdom

when we use plant essences. I also infuse and tincture stones into

my creations, as I am sure some of you do, as well.

I have tinctured clean snake skin for some of my perfumes because I

am a health care provider and snakes coil around our medical

caduceus. For me the serpent tincture imbues the aspects of healing

and tranformation into my perfumes, albeit with no detectable odor.

When there is an aspect of myself which no longer serves me, I use

snake wisdom to assit me to shed it so that I may grow beyond my

limitations. Metaphorical represenations appeal to me.

Also, I advise some women who are interested in transfering their

own pheromes into their perfumes to wear a cotton ball in their

armpits or inside the bra for a few days, then tincture that to add

perfumes. They can do this according to which phase of their

hormonal/moon time cycle they wish to capture.

All of this is endlessly fascinating...

Best,

Debbie
