Guest guest
Hi I am seeing a 9 year old boy with hereditary Ducheyne's muscular dystrophy (his dad is French). He is smaller than most boys his age (58lb) and has trouble walking up stairs, but otherwise still gets around pretty well. He lives in my community and I see him almost daily. The other boys don't always include him because he is more fragile and not as strong. He has been on 15mg of prednisone for 5 years. I have him on a supportive herbal adrenal tincture. I will switch him to Ribes nigrum 25mg bid at our next visit. I also have him on cod liver oil and creatine monohydrate. His liver enzymes are very elevated from the disease process. ALT 493 (17-63) AST 213 (12-42) His total protein and albumin are low. His mom really trusts me and is looking for anything to help him. The medical community has nothing to offer this sweet kid. I am not sure where to start. I would like to do some drainage and gemmos, but don't want to exacerbate anything. Should I start with 1, 20, 243? Can I do anything to slow the muscle breakdown? Can I do numbers for the M/S system? His mom is not really open to diet changes, although I have had them include lots of garlic and mushrooms in the diet. Well, any advise would be appreciated. Does anyone have any experience with this? Thank you Deanna Berman, ND,CM
