Guest guest
Hi brad, Have you considered checking his gut? I know of at least one case of severe mental disorder (schizophrenia) was caused by gut disruptions (dysbiosis, leaking, etc). Also, if it's possible you may want to check his neurotransmitter levels to see where he's at. It may be helpful to address those with amino acids for awhile. I tend to always look at the gut with mood disorders and tell patients that if it is off then treating the other components won't be as useful until the gut has integrity. If they are too depressed/anxious etc and can't wait for the gut to heal, I treat both simultaneously. Good luck, it is not an easy case. Guest guest
I think the biggest problem with treating schizophrenia is not figuring out what would be helpful, but actually getting patient to do any of it. I have tried to treat a few schizophrenic patients, always at the request of a family member, and not one of them would follow a diet, or take any type of supplementation for more than a couple days. I don’t know if this is a symptom of the condition, but the other thing that I found difficult was that they seemed to tell me whatever I wanted to hear during the appointment. So, I would ask if they were following a diet and oh, yes, they were, but then would see them in the community eating all kinds of junk (another advantage of a small town). None of them made any real progress unfortunately. I think finding a single homeopathic that fits the picture would be your best bet, and dose it in the office, but even then, I was quite sure I had the right remedy for one patient, but he absolutely refused to take it for fear of being poisoned. No matter how I explained it, the little white pellet was just too mysterious, and therefore suspect in his mind. It is unfortunate, I think this is a condition we could really help people with, but I haven’t yet figured out how to ensure compliance. Has anyone else had success with this?
