Guest guest
Maybe your intensity was higher than you thought? I'm consistently guilty of misjudging my intensity usually I guess I'm higher than I really am. Does anyone have an easier way of measuring intensity. Perhaps a heart rate monitor or something? Guest guest
I use a heart rate monitor to help me guide where I am. I use both how I feel and the monitor equally, never relying on one or the other totally. Somedays I can go harder than others. Like this morning, I was really huffing and puffing at a much lower heart rate than usual. There was no way I could have reached my usual heart rate this morning. Then other days, I can exceed the heart rate where I'm usually at when I hit a 10 and my breathing is barely over normal. I just try to balance the two. Also, I have a heart rate monitor that takes in to consideration my age, weight and such so I think it's fairly accurate. Much more so than a general reading from a treadmill or something. I think the monitor is a useful tool, provided you don't rely on it too much. _________________ " Whatever women must do they must do twice as well as men to be thought half as good. Guest guest
-I don't have a gym membership, nor any kind of cardio machine, but do my cardio out in the neighborhood - usually running about 7am. I find that doing cardio this way is much easier for me to really stay with that percieved exertion:levels 5-9, and if I'm having an " off " day, I can adjust it accordingly. By finishing your workout walking, I assert that you DID NOT FAIL! You simply underestimated the speed of the treadmill, and finished the session at a slower rate. If you were totally panting and breathing hard after that 20 min, and you couldn't possibly do a minute more, then you did exactly what works! Way to go!! Guest guest
I think it has a lot to do with how much extra weight we carry and how " unfit " we are to begin with. Everyone starts at a different level... Personally, while I DO follow BFL guidelines and do my cardio on an empty stomach, I try to make sure I take Betagen before ALL workouts (1/2 hour before) as well as the caffeine-laden Phen-Free (but that one only 4 days/week) Just do your best and have faith that you will do better as time goes on. BTW... did you eat well the day before? Couldn't do it! Hi everyone. I got up this morning and TRIED to do my very first aerobic day. I got on the tredmill and got thru the first 5-6-7-8-9 intensity levels and my legs started cramping up and I was so out of breath I was light headed and I could not finish the rest. I just did a regular walk for the remaining 11 or so minutes. It was terrible. I feel like I have totally failed, and I am just starting..GRRRR!! Did anyone else have this problem? Am I totally that out of shape? Was it that hard for anyone else? I dont want to be a quitter, or a complainer. Anyone got suggestions? Thanks
Guest guest
Hay , I don't have any suggestions except for hang in here. The same thing happened to me just last week. It was my first cardio workout and I was only able to complete 12 minutes of the workout. Don't give up I'm sure it will get better for both of us.
