It was tough because I dont normally do any other cardio on my weight training days. I was really sweating after the 10 mins and normally on my cardio days I do a total of an hour of cardio on various machines. > I'd really like some new ideas for my next LBWO program please. I'm very scared of lunges but would really love some input from you guys so that i can think about it over the weekend. Sorry about my very long post. > warmly > dea > I replied to this on orkut but in case you didn't see it... There's a reason for the pyramid sets and it's basically to slowly overload the muscles. If you are able to do 12 reps all the time, you are not overloading the muscle. Your quads don't need 3 exercises at 5 sets x 12 reps. This will lead to overtraining and likely will not help your joints at all. You've got 5 sets of squats, 10 sets of leg presses. That's a lot of uneeded stress on muscles and joints. Why don't you do BFL as is? It really isn't hard. If you have trouble remembering which weights you did last time on your sets, print out the workout sheet from the bodyforlife.com website and put them in a binder and bring them to the gym to fill out each time. Guest guest
> > > No, I dont think of any of the exercises or smaller weights I do as a waste of time. I do have a preference for certain exercises. eg leg press is my favourite of all exercises either upper body and lower body. I personally prefer working with heavier weights but I certainly wouldnt think that heavier is best. I'm actually thinking of doing a powerbar class where the women combine aerobic type exercises with light dumbells and barbells. > The women in that class at my local gym look amazing. For muscle to grow, the fibers need to tear and rebuild. That's why working with weights that are not strenuous enough to tear those fibers don't do much. Keep that in mind when you are picking your weights and sets.
