Guest guest
> I know a number of people that have been injured from toxic mold and they couldn't leave everything behind, buy an RV and go mountain climbing as does . I also know many who just don't have the money to travel to see Dr. Shoemaker or other toxic mold physicians. They are married, have children, the kids need food, clothing, shelter and be in school. It's hard..beyond words at times to comprehend the suffering of the ill. Yes it would be wonderful if everyone could find a safe, totally mold free and other environmental toxic free home and have the money to be treated by the experts but that's not reality. Who is going to give them the money to do all this? > Rosie Rosie, " couldn't leave everything behind " because they have those responsibilities you describe? I know a number of people who have been unnecessarily injured from toxic mold because they DIDN'T leave everything behind and can no longer maintain those responsibilities at all. I just gave you an example of someone who had access to the best information available but elected not to take it - and now she has no job and is fighting for her life. You of all people should understand that mold illness doesn't stop short of taking virtually everything you have, job, marriage, ability to care for children, your very life - if you fail to get out. I chose to take action I still had options instead of listening to doctors who said " Abandon everything? That's not reality " . For a mold susceptible person who is growing progressively worse, finding a safe environment is not only " wonderful " , it is essential. As we have seen over and over, wait too long, and options tend to decrease down to zero. -

There are thousands if not millions ill from environmental toxins, misdiagnosed and in desperate emotional, financial and physical condition. I'm sure a number are in mental institutions misdiagnosed. Yes they(we) all need a safe environment however knowing and advising is one thing; actually giving these people a viable solution is something else. In 2002 we had a very bad tropical storm; much of Houston flooded; homes flooded and thousands didn't have the money for total remediation so they are living in toxic mold homes. I've seen a few, mold growing from floor to ceilings. A number of these people are seniors on fixed income; old, weak, and poor. I'll give you two cases and hope you can give me some viable solutions of how to get these people into a safe environment. Please tell me so I can help others. 1. Senior, on social security with home full of toxic mold. Very ill, weak, can't afford Dr. Shoemaker, Dr. Schaller, Dr. , etc. Regular doctor misdiagnosed illness. Do I just tell this person to leave everything and find a safe place? Who will search for a safe home? Who will pay for the move? Who will pay for rent? Who will pay for medical consultation, tests and appropriate Rx medications to help this person? Or do I just say 'get out', live in the streets if you must and die in the street. How can an ill 70ish person live in the streets? 2. Family, 4 children, low income. Owns home full of toxic mold. Father and Mother affected so far. No finances to see qualified physician. Father will soon loose his job due to his illness. They can't sue anyone since the toxic mold was in their home. No workman's comp, no lawsuits. Living paycheck to paycheck and in debt. How do we help this family? What viable actions do they need to take and where will the money come from? Children need food, clothing, shelter and be in school. Do we call child welfare and have them remove the children from the parents and put into foster homes? Have the parents live in their car until they can't afford the car payments, gas and then what? Live in the streets begging money as I see so many do here. As I drive around see hundreds a day begging for money. Some display systems of mentally impaired. You know where I'm coming from . Its tragic, breaks my heart when I think of all these people. We have a toxic mold home across the street. Do we sell our home and try to find a safe one and how do I inspect the neighborhood to make sure no moldy homes that might affect me and if one becomes moldy do I continue to move? Honestly we don't have that kind of extra money either. Please be specific in your response to really assist rather than just advise.
