Hi everyone, I just joined. My name is Nina, 24, living in Hawaii. I was

searching on

groups actually for people with sinus problems and this group came up first, and

as it

happens we have a known mold problem in our house.

We live in Navy housing in Hawaii, actually one of the newer homes( our house

was built in

99 i think).. However, it has come to our attention recently that they didnt

keep up

maintenance on our air conditioner(central a/c), for 3 years, and now we're

finding that we

have a major mold problem, to the point that theyre going to have to rip out

half our

hallway where the a/c is, as well as cut out our vent ducts and replace

everything around

them.

Since we've moved into this house we've had a whole list of health problems. We

didnt

realize for a while why, but now that we've discovered the mold that seems to be

our most

likely explaination. Some of the health problems i dont know if it could be

caused by the

mold or not but others i know can be.

Ive had chronic migraines for the last 3 years, since a few months after moving

into this

house.. Both my girls have had sinus infections, some of which have turned into

pneumonia, its come up lately that i have sinus problems too, but since sinus

and

migraines are so closely linked they didnt realize for a long time that some of

what i was

having was sinus, not mgiraine. Ive been on every migraine treatment on the

market with

no success the only thing they can do when it gets real bad is dope me up with

heavy duty

meds and hope the migraine lessens before i have to stop the meds. Its a

horrible way to

treat it.

My husbands had short-term memory loss as well as sinus problems, and i also had

a

complicated pregnancy with our youngest(this is the one im not sure if it can be

caused by

mold)..

she was my only pregnancy in this house. She was actually twins , i miscarried

the second

twin, ended up with a blood clot in my uterus, preeclampsia later in pregnancy,

preterm

labor.. Now my daughter has developmental problems, which again id ont know how

much

of the pregnancy related stuff could be from mold or just bad luck or what..

She has underdeveloped optic nerves, (called ONH - optic nerve hypoplasia), shes

too

young to now the full ramifications of this yet but she has to see a pediatric

endocrinologist and ped. neurologist because with ONH you can have pitutiary and

neurological problems, growth deficiencies(my daughter has always been tiny, and

she

comes from a family of huge babies. my other two were 9lbers at birth she came

in at not

even 6.5 lbs, and hen lost 15 oz within the first few days after birth.. common

with ONH,

from what ive learned since her diagnosis).. As well as blind spots in their

vision, which

that in itself can lead to development issues as she gets older and hits school

age.

Either way even if my daughters problems are seperate from mold issues, i know

that our

other problems are linked strongly with mold. Its taken me forever to get the

Navy to

admit theres a problem, now that theyve finally said ok yes you have mold theyre

dragging

their feet about taking care of it, even though theyve already sent someone out

to

determine the extent of the problem(as best they can)...

Thankfully we are scheduled to move into a bigger house in August(still in

Hawaii), that is

brand-new.. But ive lived so long with these problems and now that i know what

the

probable cause is i just want it taken care of!

Anyways, sorry for the rant. We've had alot going on. LOL
