Guest guest
Dear Dr. Thom and Unda Group, I'd love some assistance on how to look at this. M & R are brothers. M is 9, R is 6. M is main focus. M has a few defined IgE food allergies must wear bracelet, could go anaphylactic. Seems to have tree/pollen allergies too, but now only uses inhalers 2 weeks 2x per year. (Previously used inhalers more.) Details follow but the priority is Energy, growing, and temperament. I'm not sure what to make of IgE food allergies. I assume it's an immune response, which started early so must have gut related implications. Seems his adrenal phase was not harmoniously established. I'm thinking things seem inherited but more severe than parents. I'm thinking Tuberculinic - he seem's delicate and for some reason that makes me think tuberculinic(?) tired, has respiratory issues, adrenal / endocrine already; had the pyloric stenosis. I started with the following, but please critique my choices and suppositions/assumptions. Essentially it is basic drainage with some adrenal/immune support. HMF, castor oil, LIquid B, EFA Liquid, Unda 20, 20, 243, HAD Adrenal & rotating, and Echinasyr 10 days on every 4 weeks. More seaweed (likes) and rice protein. Flower essences geared toward heart opening, being generous of spirit, developing understanding of others. History: Mom has had eczema whole life, used cortisone 1% whole life topically. For a while in college it was better, went away when carrying M and she did not use topicals. Was full force when had R but did not medicate. Mom had asthma age 8 to high school, better after puberty. Dad did have Lymes disease in 1993 - M born 1995. Mom Chinese, Dad Russian. When M born, always spitting up, it was cottage cheesy; at 6 wks projectile vomting; discovered pyloric stenosis, had operation no complicaitons; at 10 months mom added eggs to her diet (breastfeeding until M 2) and M got hives. Doctor tested positive IgE for dairy, beef, wheat, tomatoes, eggs, tree nuts and peanuts and corn. Did start M on grains by 5 months (rice and oats, and cheerios by 8 months, and gumming on wheat bread). M was allergic to eggs until 3. Tested every 6 months. Now allergic to Dairy, PNuts and Tree Nuts (almonds & macadamia are okay). Also allergic to latex (found out at DDS at age 6). If he reacts to a food now he vomits and sometimes gets hives. Carry epipen. Wears medic alert bracelet. May be anaphylactic to Milk, Pnuts & treenuts. Seems to be sensitive now to tree pollen and cut grass. Had bad eczema as child. Homeopath back east gave Sulfur (dilution unknown). No more eczema. M has water stools, but do have a shape to them and color is usually normal - sometimes gray green, spends lot of time in bathroom wiping self, moves bowels 1 time per day. M has had 10 big reactions - Vomit till froth comes up and simultaneously diarrhea - it was always boiled down to hidden dairy or cross contamination in his food. M thin and pale. Energy is really low. PRIORITY IS ENERGY. Rarely full of life. Wry humor. Fears his body/fascinated with scrapes or pus or injuries to his body. Doesn't like to get sweaty. Wets bed chronically - getting better. Was not potty trained till 4.5 - now he is 9. Diapers at night until 8. UTI at 1 year old and reacted to Bactril Good mind yet prideful, methodical, (learning Chinese) likes his way and must be " right " . Pulls back and watches, seems to be " spacing out " but if asked a question he's " right there. " Fastidious about hair cuts and clothes. Not warm or loving. Hard time letting go, holds grudges if he feels wronged. Cranky with mom and brother. He is " judicious " worries about what is fair. Always complaining about something. Controlling to brother: I play computer and you watch. Anxiety pretty high. Skin dry and scratchy - Neck has dark pigmentation across/over front of neck. Rhythm not well established with M - 1st child. Still gets in bed at 9 and asleep at 10:00, and gets up to pee 1-2x per night. Alwyas hyper irritable at bedtime. Tired in morning, Energy picking up by 10:00 a.m. Mom doing incredible job with diet and eating vegetables. Breakfast could be less carb more protein. But even with restrictions doing great (lots of soy milk and unfermented soy products though). Hair falls out every now and then - a lot. 2 months ago had a virus, lot of hair fell. Sedentary by nature - prefers board games and computers but mom gets him out, Not real coordinated (parents are athletic). Loves to build things, lego, loves to travel and map out route. He seemed delicate or fine when I met him - kind of gazelle like (I meet the mom first and then just stopped by house and met kids in their environment). After this month, I'm not sure whether I would want to move toward nervous system or stay in GI, or ?? I've been studying the single remedies and as yet have a list of 5 or 6 possibilities. This feels very amorphous. Things are off but now seriously off, just off in numerous areas, which again makes me think nervous system? Or shall I focus on lung drainage due to history of inhalers? Thank you in advance for shining some light on how to look a this. I'll have to look at R tomorrow - he's generally okay but one recent asthma attack to unknown substance(?) requiring immediate hospitalization for 24 hours - totally different temperament. Not same food allergies - at least IgE. I'll get Mom to run IgG.
Guest guest
When trying to narrow things down to a single homeopathic rememdy, studying the parents can be very helpful. I have seen that often the child is the same remedy as one of the two parents and sometimes it is easier to get information and history about the parents and then look back at the child and come up with the childs remedy. Just some food for thought! nancy c. >From: <lenifelton@...> >Reply- >uNDA_Cases >Subject: how to think about these boys >Date: Wed, 30 Jun 2004 00:51:59 -0700 > >Dear Dr. Thom and Unda Group, > >I'd love some assistance on how to look at this. > >M & R are brothers. Guest guest
Thank you for the good advice. Makes good sense, and his mom says he is similar to her in some ways. Guest guest
Leni, Good case. Seems tuberculinic is reasonable with this history. Immune system imbalance - Th2 dominence (since birth) Trouble "digesting the world" so lots of GI problems. I would stay in this system for a while. The lung is a consequence of the allergies, so since the symptoms are not major, I wouldn't worry much about it. Dick M & R are brothers. M is 9, R is 6. M is main focus. M has a few defined IgE food allergies must wear bracelet, could go anaphylactic. Albeit brief your notes really clarify how to think and approach, so I really thank you a lot for taking the time to help me get oriented! Just got back from vacation - i hope all unda group can get some time to refresh this summer. Best, Leni At 10:56 PM 7/3/2004 -0400, you wrote: Leni, Good case.
