Guest guest
This is illegal, the Fair Credit Reporting Act requires that anybody denied credit of any kind be allowed to see what is written about them and challenge incorrect information. Any situation where people excercise their legal and moral rights (like complaining about a dangerous situation, that could hurt others as well as themselves) is protected under the Constitution as free speech and necessary for democracy. Informatiojn on safety complaints by tenants is not the kind of information that they are allowed to compile on tenants. Landlords, yes, but these databases don't do that. (they should) BTW, is there any good database on bad landlords? (You can bet your ass that they would be all over some place where tenants could compile information on THEM. ) These databases may do it anyway, but they should be sued, and they will lose. Bigtime. Think of it this way. if they were allowed to do things like this - intimidating tenants into silence - this nation would become nothing more than a kleptocracy - Ultimately, a nation of fear in which nobody would ever complain to any public agency about any safety issues with products of any kind. Then, where would we be? In other words, this situation is clearly against public policy.
