Guest guest
Hello, this is my first post here. My daughter Molly was diagnosed with scoliosis a few months back, she is now 22 months. She is being treated for a 31 degree curve with a boston brace, with good results so far. She has been xrayed wearing the brace and her spine is virtually straight with it. She will be xrayed again next month without the brace. We can see some improvement when she has the brace off, her shoulders are even and the indentation on the right side of her back is less prevalent. The orthopedist also identified a leg length discrepency of 3/8 of an inch. She also has a co-occuring condition characterized at this age by very poor muscle tone and potential physical delays. My question relates to potty training. Molly is showing awareness now and we would like to begin with potty training. I am curious how others may have worked this out. Molly gets frustrated sometimes when having her diaper changed because of the brace. I expect it will be a barrier to potty training. I'd love to hear any suggestions from anyone who has been through it. Thanks Speiser- mom to Molly
