Guest guest
Health officials investigate source of deadly fungal infection http://www.wbay.com/Global/story.asp?S=4631733 MERRILL, Wis. Lincoln County health officials will meet with residents this week to discuss an outbreak of fungal infections that has already killed one person and made 17 others sick. Officials will hold two town hall meetings at Merrill City Hall Thursday to answer people's questions and educate them on the progress health officials are making. One resident says she wants to know what they're doing to track down the source of the infections before more people get sick. People can get the infection by inhaling spores from a type of fungus that grows in soil with decomposing material such as leaves. Symptoms include fever and lung infections. A 16-year-old Merrill girl died from the infection in February.
