question about RVAD

I've been reading right along with 's messages and thought

I'd throw this question out to you. (or anyone else who can help)

My little guy's RVAD was measured at 21. (COBB angle measured at 27

and 30 by 2 docs (same scans)) His curve is idiopathic. Do you have

enough experience with other families to know whether this would be

considered progressive or not? I do have an appointment August 20 to

have a second set of xrays done to see if the COBB and RVAD angle

increase to know for sure but just wondered if 21 meant anything to

you knowing more about this than I? It's kind of just over 20 but

not 30 or 40 you know? I was really looking forward to knowing this

angle last month, but whne I found out it was 21, I was a little

depressed. 21 is still kind of right on the line. Any thoughts?

Also, when you are talking about serial plaster casting, you are

talking for the most part about curing these kids if caught young

enough, right? No surgery? Or is the casting just replacing bracing

until surgery? After reading some of these emails lastely I'm

confused. I did watch Dr. Mehta's video and I thought her theory was

to cure these kids with the casting. Can you clarify?

Thank you. My son was just diagnosed in June (7 months old now) and

I want to do all that I can for him. I'm learning that I am the only

advocate for him. The docs are all saying " Wait and see " and I'm

telling them " No " (thanks to you and this site!) I shouldv'e trusted

my instincts at birth when I thought he felt crooked. Now I am.......
