47028. Mold-1 year

I know someone who moved from St. Bernard after Katrina, but has

been back several times to clean up. She was hospitalized with what

was thought to be bilateral pneumonia, but then found it she had

mold growing in both lungs. She will be on antibiotics for an

extended period of time. She also was told not to return to St.

Bernard Parish for at least 1 year.

has anyone heard of anything like this happening to someone else. i

wonder if the cdc has anything to say about it. if this is true then

the government needs to send people in to clean and do whatever to

get rid of this so that people can return and not have to worry

about their families getting ill or dying.

were hospitalized and diagnosed with very serious upper respiratory

infections. damaged lungs so bad that they were told NOT to return

at all. i also knew of someone who was diagnosed with ULCERS in

their throat. i have never heard of that.... true though

Last week 8 men went into a house in carolyn park to gut it. The

next day 6 fell ill 4 of the six went to the hospital. The only two

that did not get sick never took off their mask.

to go back b/c he had mold growing in his sinus that almost killed

him. The doctor told him the next time he goes there he may make it

in not sure if he will make it out. Please be aware and wear

protective mask.

when we gutted out homes, friends who were nurses helped. If anyone

would take off their mask because it was hot, the nurses told them

not to go back in the house because mold could get into their lungs

and continue to grow.
