Mold a problem at historic courthouse

The County voter registrar's office has been moved from the

old courthouse in downtown Jefferson due to a mold problem.

The office was moved to the Administrative Building Monday after

concern about mold in the building. The voter registrar's office is

now located downstairs in the Administrative Building in the former

purchasing office. The phone number is the same, 367-4164.

The county has applied for a grant to study the cost and options in

renovating the historic courthouse. The mold issue will likely be

addressed in this study.

County Chamber of Commerce leaders have discussed moving to

the courthouse if a renovation is done.
