Guest guest
Mark, My thought is that there may indeed be a short in the activEEG box that's causing the channel to drop out. Without being able to switch leads around, that is a distinct possibility that can't easily be tested. Best thing is to contact Brainquiry (Foxx can help you with that) and see about replacing the system with one of the newer ones. Can you loan them some standard electrodes to test and see if they have the channel problem with those? That would pin it down, I would think, to either the Pendant or the Activ's. The codec problem is very likely related to a specific video you are using. Go ahead and download and install the new one, and it should go away. They are using Pendant EEG with BioExplorer and ActivEEG electrodes. We bought the active electrodes through Pete Van Deusen, so I'm copying this to the Brain-Trainer list as well. > > First problem is that channel 2 intermittently drops out during neurofeedback sessions. I believe you replaced the pendant for them fairly recently after a similar problem, which makes me think that the problem might not be in the pendant itself. > > Pete, is there any way to test if there is a problem with the active electrodes for channel 2 and if so, how do we replace them? I tried to test them with the offset setting on my Checktrode impedance meter, but that didn't seem to work like it does for standard electrodes. This is the earlier version of the ActiveEEG electrodes where the electrodes aren't individually detachable. > > Second problem is with videos freezing or switching off during a session. I'm told that by right clicking the mouse and pressing another key it sometimes restarts. What I saw when I dropped in on Friday afternoon was a window that came up that said something like: " The program you are currently using requires a current Indeo codec. " It then gave a web link (http://indeo.ligos.com) and said we needed to obtain a driver that is compatible with this version of Windows. > > The school haven't changed any settings or upgraded Windows or anything else like that since using the system last year and this is the first time this has occurred. They have observed that the problem usually occurs when AVIs are playing, but not MPEGs. However, these are AVIs that I use all the time, so I don't know what the problem is. > > They've stopped doing any neurofeedback until we sort this out, so any suggestions would be much appreciated. > > Mark Darling > > > > Van Deusen http://www.brain-trainer.com 16246 SW 92nd Ave, Miami, FL 33157 305/251-0337 or (cellular) 305/321-1595
