A leaking roof and poor air circulation are among the problems. Now the school system is telling parents what's being done. by News Channel 8's Herzenberg WTNH - New Haven,CT Officials discovered the mold 3 years ago. It was cleaned up but the leaking roof continues to create problems. You can see water stains on the ceiling tiles of Van Buren Moody Elementary School in Middletown. Administrator's say they cleaned up the mold in the media center and closed the portable classrooms. They also talked tonight about the effort to find the money to replace the roof. Many parents are pleased with the communication from the school, some are not. " I came here tonight expecting results I want re assurance that's all I want is to be reassured. When I sent my daughter back after 20 days, cause I was concerned that she might be held back, against my better judgment, and I'm really counting the days 'til the end of this year cause she's out of this school after this. " says Vitteli, parent " To the best of our knowledge the building is safe. " says Salvatore Nesci, Middletown Health Department " Right now we're handling the assessment and making recommendations for long term planning. " Health officials say about a half dozen parents have had their children's doctors forward air quality illness concerns to the school nurse.
