Guest guest
Hi everyone, Evan had his first cast applied on April 26th at the age of 17 months by Dr. D'Astous at the Shriner's Hospital in SLC. Evan's idiopathic scoliosis had reached 54 degrees with an RVAD of 40. The x-ray taken after the cast was applied reduced his curve to 32 degrees and his RVAD TO 34. Evan has tolerated his cast exceptionally well. He was out in the play area at Shriner's a few hours after the cast was applied and has returned to all normal activities at home. The cast doesn't seem to bother him at all. Evan was diagnosed at 6 months of age with a 36 degree curve. He was being treated at Children's Hospital in Boston, Ma. Evan wore a Boston Brace for several months and his curve continued to worsen during this time. The team of doctors felt our only option was surgery with growing rods. I started looking for alternatives and was lucky enough to find this group. I am very grateful for the wealth of info and support that was provided by , Crista, Bridgette, and Tawney. I am glad we followed Mehta's recommedation to cast Evan immediately. I will try to get pictures on the site soon.
