Guest guest Posted January 28, 2006 Report Posted January 28, 2006 The biggest issue for me in how they are cleaned. I simply wipe off the paste carefully with a dry paper towel and then clean them with an alcohol pad. If you don't have a problem using the same neurotrode with multiple clients (as you would with a standard electrode), you can use them many times with--at least to my eye--no degradation of the signal. However, if you try to pop them off the electrode heads, they come apart, often the very first time. If we are concerned about the Ag/AgCl electrode in the center, then I simply watch that for discoloration. Guest guest Posted January 28, 2006 Report Posted January 28, 2006 Pete Thanks for the advice about not popping them off the electrode heads. the version I have seems to have a white material in the centre of the plastic ring and I guess the Ag/AgCl electrode is under that. Given the care you take what kind of useage do you get. Thanks Mark Neurotrode> >> >I am interested in people's experience of using the neurotrode electrodes. Guest guest Posted January 28, 2006 Report Posted January 28, 2006 I now have a version that works exceedingly well and you don't have to use any paste at all. I have a snap electrode with my pocket and all you need is saline solution with baby shampoo. No prep. No paste and cleans up easily. The impedance is excellence. http://drdiane.com/neuroband_order.html Enjoy freedom from PASTE and all the clean up!! Guest guest Posted January 28, 2006 Report Posted January 28, 2006 Mark~ Underneath that white material is the electrode. Just rip the white material off and add paste and then you can clean them with alcohol after each use. Still good after 20 + sessions each. And if you don't live in the desert using them works well for the mastoid too. ~ --------- Neurotrode> >> >I am interested in people's experience of using the neurotrode electrodes. Guest guest Posted January 28, 2006 Report Posted January 28, 2006 HI folks, I followed this thread from afar without understanding what you were talking about. I have an assortment of snap-on electrodes... Would someone please explain what neurotrodes are/look like? Thanks very much! Guest guest Posted January 28, 2006 Report Posted January 28, 2006 Hi Jan Neurotrodes can be viewed on the following link. They are the blue snap on electrodes. http://www.brain-trainer.com/cgi-bin/shop.pl?shop=get_item & item_id=35/ Mark Neurotrode > > > >I am interested in people's experience of using the neurotrode electrodes. Guest guest Posted January 28, 2006 Report Posted January 28, 2006 Do you use tweezers or something or snap the blue part off and back on again? Guest guest Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 Mark~ All you need is a finger nail, just grap it and pull, the material will rip right off, no need to remove the blue ring. ~ --------- Neurotrode> >> >I am interested in people's experience of using the neurotrode electrodes. Guest guest Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 Thanks. I didn't want to do anything I'd be sorry for. My nails aren't that long. Guest guest Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 Hi Rosemary, Not quite sure what you mean by sterilized. I don't have an autoclave, like you sterilize needles or metal objects. Can it be wash by hand or washing machine? Yes. It is made of Velcro and belt material. I then put it on the line to dry. I do not put it in a dryer. It may shrink. Since I have more than one, I can alternate. The band is similar to the HEG band of Hershal. Do you wash that every time for each client? I don't own one, so I'm just interested. The pocket are easily washable between treatments. They are made of chamois and Velcro. In my research on fabrics, I never knew there were so many types of felts and chamois. The type I use is imported from the UK. Most around here do not hold up or absorb the solution well. Hope I answered your question. The more question now, I'll be prepared for Palm Springs. Thanks again about the inquiry. Guest guest Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 I have Hershel's headband, and I do wipe it off between clients, but I don't autoclave it or anything close to that. I think some practitioners put a single layer white tissue between the head and headband when they use it. Sometimes I do that, but not every time. Hershel says you can clean the headband with alcohol, but I would think that over time that might be harsh. I recall one list discussion where a practitoner was particularly concerned about potential problems with the velcro and lice ??? (He said that his child's school experience had him greatly sensitized to the issue). Anyway, it was an imagined worry, not one that had already occured. You cannot easily remove the HEG sensor strip from Hershel's band. I would not jeopardize the functionality of the equipment to test its limits! --------- Re: Re:neurotrode> Dr. Diane Stoler, Ed.D.
