Perfect plaster?

Earth Plaster has received rave reviews from the National

Association of Home Builders, which gave it an " outstanding new

green product award. " It also has been noticed by Architectural

Digest and BuilderNews.

This all-natural product -- a mix of clays, aggregates and pigments -

- resists mold, controls moisture, won't fade and it's non-toxic and

hypoallergenic.

Earth Plaster comes in textures ranging from baby-bottom smooth to

coarser surfaces achieved with additives. Rustic or porcelainlike,

this product is easy to apply.

Just mix with water and spread. It comes in 30 colors that can be

mixed or matched to enhance your decor. Prices start at $50 for a

bag that covers about 200 square feet. Check out their Web site,

www.americanclay.com, or find it next to other environmentally

friendly materials in booth 1207.

I bookmarked this to look into in the future. It looks really

interesting. My home is an old plaster home and mold inspector said

it probably is what saved house from mold damage spreading. Mold

can grow on studs or on some types of insulation but not on or in

old fashion plaster.

On the downside, plaster walls crack when house settles from time to

time. If crack is pretty large, you have to do whole wall rather

than patch like drywall. If crack is small, you can spackle.

Anyway, this stuff says it is easy to repair so maybe has benefits

of old plaster with improvements on maintenance.

If someone decides to look into this, I would ask how to repair

small and large cracks, before deciding. It may be worth it

anyway.
