Guest guest Posted July 2, 2004 Report Posted July 2, 2004 Nate is almost 18 months. I worry more about the consequences of NOT xraying him! I was told by another parent here and the xray techs and his ortho that there is more harmful rays from sun exposure than in an xray. They have gotten better about that compared to years ago. Nate had his first xray the day before Thanksgiving, then one on Christmas eve, then in March. He is not scheduled to return until the end of Aug, but Im thinking about taking him in July. I keep a VERY close eye on him and when things start to look odd, I take him in. Id rather waste a trip than not go in and hes much worse!! Just my view though. I will add that his ortho will not xray him too frequently, and does check his back visually first to see if he sees any reason to xray him. I also dont feel like this 4 month xray will not be forever. I feel confident enough that Nate will either stop progressing, or need casting. In either case his frequency will go down. Hes just growing so much right now, and we dont know if its progressing or not, so we just keep a close eye on him. > > -- Thanks for the encouragement. Does your son have x-rays > every 4 months? Do you worry about all the x-ray exposure? How old is > your son? > > Thanks! > > Amy Quote
