Guest guest
Rhonda I leave dishes . enough to eat with, right in the strainer all the time as I dont like the smell in my cupboards. Wicker is tough. I collected baskets and had to get rid of all of them as I could see mold in the weave. Im so sorry your doing this. I got sick at work in a government building, then went through three moldy apartments. God Bless Janet
Guest guest
Rhonda, I SO feel for you, and what you are going through. I just wanted to say that, and I can completely relate to the intensity of the experience. I'm glad you found this group. It's a great resource. Please be very, very careful while you're doing this work. Wear personal protection: a full-on mask with respirator, not one of those inexpensive cloth ones, gloves, goggles, etc. I initially tried to clean everything in my house, but either I became incredibly sensitive or the mold toxins became so much stronger (probably both), and I finally had to give up, sell my house, and put everything in storage, while I hotel hopped to try to stop reacting. I literally thought I was going to die. It almost seems like a better idea to be extremely conservative and cautious at first, rather than the other way around, like most people do. Put some of the questionnable stuff in storage to deal with later, if that is an option for you. But make sure you have a safe place to sleep. Don't wear contaminated clothing into it. Shower before you go to bed, etc. I like hearing stories about remediators who kick people out of their houses with only the clothes on their backs, while they clean the items one by one in their little white suits. I think that's the way it should be done, although I'm not familiar with your unique situation, and who can afford that without insurance kicking in. In my own experience (Stachy/Asper) I've found I was unable to clean anything porous (clothing/linens/bedding, baskets, wicker), anything with a motor or a fan (including blow dryer, computer, portable heater), and I'm fairly certain I can't clean plastics either. This may be more mycotoxin related. Best of luck to you. I literally thought I was going to die. > " Intensification response " . Amazing that just when you think you are taking positive steps toward recovery, your sensitivity goes through the roof. This is one of the peculiarities that leads people to believe they are taking the wrong approach: " Moving out didn't work. I just got worse. This is the wrong thing to do " . It takes somebody who has been through it to explain that what appears to be perfectly logical in addressing the mold can be counterproductive, and that becoming more sensitive post exposure isn't a sign of getting worse. It's a normal consequence of detoxification. I agree on the difficulty or impossibility of remediating some items. Too painful and dangerous to try. Better to put it in storage where, over time, they just might denature as I have seen in a few cases. -

Guest guest
With your recipes why not copy them or seal them in plastic laminate? Guest guest
I'm hoping at least my house is a little less toxic after all this work. I know I have spread toxins all over but washing the clothes I hope helped them not to be covered in millions of toxins. 12 years of this crap too. I have my bedroom closet done and drawers but still have some other things in that room to figure out. I dread the other bedroom closet too!!! I have got rid of a lot of things and still my closet is packed. I didn't use a respirator so who knows what else I've done to myself etc. I did wear a mask for the most part. Not feeling so great tho and we are having barometer changes bigtime here and that affects me very badly. I cleaned all weekend what I could and felt like I was hit by a truck this morning and couldn't get out of bed til noon. Trying to clean more clothes etc. Think I may give some of this hay away to a resuce. I warned her but I don't think she understands but bunny resuces know about mycotoxins. Not sure what I'll do. I think my house is contaminated more than they hays and get them from places that grow hays for bunnies so they are extra careful but still I know.....but better than some feed store mess. There are people actually asking me do I feel better or how long.....like I suppose to bounce back after 12 years of poisoning. I hope I can get out of bed tomorrow. The barometer thing just kills me and something different going on since remediation/air scrubbers too that made matters worse. That mold remediation company ought to know if I have brain damage already and who knows what else, that not good for me to be in house with air scrubbers. Geez, it only tood a couple minutes and I was dizzy and felt bizzare and swelled up in face. I wish now he didn't offer the air scrubbers at all b/c just messed me up bigtime and wonder if it really sucked any sticky mycotoxins up. Going to clean some more and tired of it too. No word yet from my neuro one way or the other...... Now I lost my teeth retainer and think a vac sucked it up and had fell on floor. Another bill, dentist, b/c my teeth move in front if I don't wear a retainer and been a month and already moving. Not sure how to afford a dentist visit and retainer. Does it ever end. If anything else happens, I think I may crack if I already haven't......
