Guest guest
Very Good advice Elvira [] Re: I have collectors dolls and how can I clean Rhonda, I SO feel for you, and what you are going through. I just wanted to say that, and I can completely relate to the intensity of the experience. I'm glad you found this group. It's a great resource. Please be very, very careful while you're doing this work. Wear personal protection: a full-on mask with respirator, not one of those inexpensive cloth ones, gloves, goggles, etc. I initially tried to clean everything in my house, but either I became incredibly sensitive or the mold toxins became so much stronger (probably both), and I finally had to give up, sell my house, and put everything in storage, while I hotel hopped to try to stop reacting. I literally thought I was going to die. It almost seems like a better idea to be extremely conservative and cautious at first, rather than the other way around, like most people do. Put some of the questionnable stuff in storage to deal with later, if that is an option for you. But make sure you have a safe place to sleep. Don't wear contaminated clothing into it. Shower before you go to bed, etc. I like hearing stories about remediators who kick people out of their houses with only the clothes on their backs, while they clean the items one by one in their little white suits. I think that's the way it should be done, although I'm not familiar with your unique situation, and who can afford that without insurance kicking in. In my own experience (Stachy/Asper) I've found I was unable to clean anything porous (clothing/linens/bedding, baskets, wicker), anything with a motor or a fan (including blow dryer, computer, portable heater), and I'm fairly certain I can't clean plastics either. This may be more mycotoxin related. Best of luck to you. Jules > > The hepa vac sucks too hard to try to vac their clothes and then the > hair would surely mess up if not suck off. Guest guest
Rhonda, Here are some more tips.. what has helped me.. in a similar situation.. (however, I still can't really deal in any sustained way - like I need to - with my contaminated stuff.. but it HAS helped..) Get some 20 " fans and some of the better 3M 20 " 'Filtrete' furnace filters.. and duct tape them to the fans intake so that the airflow goes in the right direction. (in) These then become cheap, high-volume air cleaners that will remove a lot of the mold material from the air.. just let them run continuously on low and change the filters every two weeks or sooner if they appear to be getting really dirty.. Those dirty filters become very toxic.. Bag them up and throw them out carefully.. Wear a mask.. I have found the 'duck' style / N95 'sanding' masks are a lot more effective and comfortable than the other brand you see more often.. (forget the name) Also, get CSM and also get whatever supplements that help you.. and take effective doses of them at least three times a day.. (for me this is DLPA, alpha-lipoic acid, n-acetyl-cysteine, milk thistle extract and piracetam - they are the ones I can't do without..I also take Vitamins C, E and fish oil several times a day.) Also, if its not too cold, keep your windows open as much as you can.. The air outside is guaranteed to be cleaner than the air inside..just about everywhere..
