Guest guest Posted December 15, 2004 Report Share Posted December 15, 2004 I use calico cloths from bags of oats/flour etc i.e. 5kg bag (1kg is fine) unthreaded will do more than cover the top, wash it first thou'! (although it will shrink a bit)... I cottoned onto that one a long time ago;-) even cut up old bed sheets (boiled-washed) to cut to the right shape and use as covers. Thought I mention here one of the best tips for the 'bands' to keep the cloth firmly on the brewing vessel : cutting across the end of old rubber gloves - the wider the strips the firmer the rubber-band.
