Hay un clinica en Barcelona. Conoces? El Dr se llama Rigo. I am a nervous wreck this AM. , I spoke to Tawney last night and also meant to call you but I was on the phone longer then I thought. I will call you from Utah. You are having another cast change on the 28 of January ? Has your daughter been in the same cast since June of 2003 ? That seems like a long time. Usually a child is in the same cast for three to four months before it is changed again. I am happy to tell you that it is NOT too late for your daughter. Serial casting does not work for children who are over three years of age. I think it has something to do with the rigidity of their spines at that age. Anyway, you also state that there is something going on with her hip which is causing her lower curve to progress. Has your doctor told you what his plan of action is for that ? If your doctor got her curve down to 30 degree lying down the last time just remind him to try and get her a little straighter this time maybe to say, 25 degrees. Like I've mentioned before, if he just gets her curve down to 30 degrees again, he will just be maintaining the curve where it is now. Is your doctor familiar with the work of Min Mehta ? She is a world renowned doctor. I'm sure he has heard of her, the Mehta angle was named after her. I think she just published a massive study on serial casting in the Journal of Joint and Bone Disease (British), if he cares to read up on it to familiarize himself with her work. You should also contact the Scoliosis Association of the U.K. (SAUK), they have a website. You really should get the video from them. It's a real eye opener. So your daughter will get a new brace on the 28th of January ? You should insist that he put her in a cast. Look at 's photographs to see what I mean. If you can't get a cast right away, try to get better correction with the new brace. Contact the Scoliosis Association of the United Kingdom their telephone number is 020 89641166 or 020 89645343. I don't know if they are open today. I think their hours of operation are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. told you that she cannot send you her video because it will not work on your T.V. You have to get a video that is made in Europe for European use. Call that number and have them send you a video. Your daughter is not yet two years of age so she is a good candidate for serial corrective casting (provided it is not congenital). I wish there were a way to translate this for you.
