white layer

hello my collegues, i would like to ask:

on the top of my mushroom i have seen white part (film quite thick). It

seems like a white layer on the top but Im confused of the colour - is

white. Can anybody tell me if it is something bad or is it okay?

Yes, this is the new baby. It is white because it is new, After you

harvest it and use it to make more it will get darker with each use.

Also it depends on the tea you use, the dark teas make the culture dark

fast than the green or white tea. Sounds like your culture is perfectly

normal and there is nothing to worry about:)

Hurray, this is the new baby growing. It always grows closest to the surface

of your brew. At harvesting time this will be a new

culture for you which you can either use together with your

original culture to brew another batch, or use to make a separate jar of

Kombucha tonic or give away to a friend.

If you have just started the culture, it's okay. It will turn a more amber

color in a few days. If it's over 14 days and it's still white, then

something is wrong. Perhaps there is airborne mold or the culture was not

started correctly.
