I just sort of lost it...I am slowly working myself back...we went to england in Nov. My son (marine..remember?) and his wife had a premie...2lbs 8 oz. in Oct. so went over there to see her. She is now a good size, name is Arwen. They have some complications but otherwise are doing good...Its a long story, but due to some treatment the Brits used on a cyst on her eyelid, she is almost totally blind in that eye and the other isn't looking so good. No recourse due to socialized medicine... Anyway, I am hoping to get back on board here officially on Monday...I am trying to get psyched this week in preparation. Talk with you soon! Actually, I have four grandchildren (and one in the oven) of my own, and my husband has one that is 13, a boy. My grandchildren are as follows: My eldest daughter has a girl, Kaitlyn who is 7yrs and a boy, Reid who is 2 yrs...my middle son has a boy, Kain who is three and they are due for another on Christmas (hoping for a girl!) then my " baby " has the new one, Arwen (from Lord of the Rings). I will be 50 in Jan so will have five natural grandchildren by that age. I thought after I wrote the last post that maybe people who live in England would think I was " blaming " the Brits about Arwens eyes. So I want to explain why I said what I said...since England has socialized medicine they tend not to do surgery as quickly as we might. Instead of using a simple laser proceedure to remove the cyst, they opted to inject her eye with steroids..this slowed the cyst growth and finally stopped it...but at the loss of the eyesight. My kids went to 6 different hospitals and they all decided that was all they could do. I have the feeling that if they were here the doctors would have opted for the laser (although we will never know). My son tried to get relocated back over here, but due to his training in intell they wanted him to stay (by the way, he has already received three citations from the military as well as the NSA for being a part of the team that has literally saved 6 downed flight crews in Iraq.) So, as you can see I am very proud of my son. This is the same kid that was ADHA and somewhat hard to live with!LOL Pat
Guest guest
Hey, Pat! I've been " off the wagon " too... and I'm rededicating on Monday also! I look forward to hearing how you do. That socialized medicine sure doesn't sound very good from this perspective... hope she grows to be stronger and healthier soon! ~Lydia S. Re: Hey Pat! > Hey, good to see you again! Guest guest
I can see why you are proud of your son; you should be! Congrats on 4 grandchildren before 50. You're a young grandmother! My dad just turned 60 and Austyn is his first (although I'm the youngest of 3, no one else has kids yet) grandchild. He's getting used to the whole Grandpa thing. Looking forward to chatting again and the BFL support. -Jen > Beautiful names! Actually, I have four grandchildren (and one in the > oven) of my own, and my husband has one that is 13, a boy.
