Guest guest
I think the whole eating before exercising is totally subjective. From what I've read, though, you get the maximum benefits of fat-burning if you do cardio on as empty a stomach as possible. I personally find that, if I eat anything before running, I get a cramp around the second mile. It's happened both times that I've run after having any type of meal - in the afternoon once, and while doing a 5K after I had eaten a banana. That's the problem for me with races is that they don't start until 8:00 or 8:30, and normally I eat my first meal around 6:30 or 7am. Anyhow - sorry for going off on the tangent. My advice would be to go with what works for you, but for maximum fat loss do it on as empty a stomach as possible. in WI eating before cardio > i know that in his book bill suggests doing cardio first thing in the > morning on an empty stomach in order to maximize fat loss. how > essetial is this? i often find that when try to exercise on a > completely empty stomach my workout suffers because i dont have as > much energy. its seems to me that i would be able to go harder (and > eventually longer) if i had a little fuel in me.... thoughts? > > > > > >
Guest guest
I've read a lot of the debates about this and find that for me I do best if I do a really small protien meal before I work out, usually I grab an egg out of the boiled eggs bin I keep in the fridge and munch on the egg white on my way to the gym. While I'm sure it decreases the total fat burning potential by a little I find my energy level stays up and I don't tend to get too many tummy rumbles. The suggestion of caffine can be good for some people, but for others caffine first thing in the morning leads to an acid stomach or jitters. The other thing to try is a big glass of water first thing in the morning to help get you going. Early energy depletion can be tied to water loss and dehydration. The key is that you do what works best for YOU. Try several of the wonderful suggestions given here and find what you're happy with. Best of luck. ~Jena > i know that in his book bill suggests doing cardio first thing in the > morning on an empty stomach in order to maximize fat loss. how > essetial is this? i often find that when try to exercise on a > completely empty stomach my workout suffers because i dont have as > much energy. its seems to me that i would be able to go harder (and > eventually longer) if i had a little fuel in me.... thoughts? Guest guest
I have found that the final meal from the night before gives me the fuel I need for my morning workouts. I figured this out when I started loosing energy a few mornings and then realized that I didn't have my final meal for one reason or another. Now, I make sure I've planned my day so that I can get in that last meal. Also, I have mine rather late, usually 9:30 or 10:00 and do the workout at 5:00. _________________ " Whatever women must do they must do twice as well as men to be thought half as good.
