Guest guest
After leg day, I usually do my normal cardio routine (running, elliptical, or stairs). I may be really sore to start, but i find that getting the blood pumping, especially in the legs, helps to stretch everything out and loosen everything up. For me anyway, this helps with some of the soreness. I, however like you, kind of like the pain. My husband thinks I am totally bonkers for this but what can I say, you have to stick with what you like. Shauntel > Howdy folks! > > I had the best lower body workout EVER yesterday! Guest guest
I'm totally with you with the soreness, I love it too, I have always felt like it drives me! But I started reading that if you work muscles when they're sore, you can stunt the rebuilding, thus the growth, I'm probably going to do the same thing as usual but I wanted to hear suggestions. Thanks so much Shauntel!!!! I appreciate it! Have a great day! -Ruth > > Howdy folks! > > > > I had the best lower body workout EVER yesterday! Guest guest
The cardio actually helps you recover by increasing blood flow to the sore muscles. It's not overtraining because you're working different types of muscle fiber in totally different ways. You hit the fast twitch (size/strength) fibers with the heavy weights and the slow-twitch (endurance) fibers with the repetitive cardio. I normally don't modify my cardio at all if my legs are sore. 2-3 minutes into they always feel a lot better than when I started. Be sure to stretch your legs afterward when they're warm. That will help too. Re: Sore Legs...What kind of Cardio? I'm totally with you with the soreness, I love it too, I have always felt like it drives me! Guest guest
Hi ! Thanks for the advice. I actually did end up going full speed ahead and as I was working it did feel better! It really feels great now that I'm working harder with weights than I ever have, and I have that great soreness to show for it! I will definitely remember the stretching too. Thanks so much for explaining the slow-twitch/fast- twitch thing! Very enlightening! I really appreciate it! Take care! -Ruth > The cardio actually helps you recover by increasing blood flow to the sore muscles.
