Guest guest
Steph, The term holistic refers to something that encompasses the whole person- body, mind and spirit. Not to be confused with homeopathy which is a science unto itself-pretty weird (IMO), but effective. You'll have to read up on it to know what I mean. Happy Learning! Guest guest
Steph. A dentist that does not use amalgam is called a biological dentist. There are not many around that I have found. The one I use is in Mexico. They follow the whole protocol that Dr Hal Huggins and others have set forth. Old fillings are removed with rubber dams in place and extractors (like vacuum cleaners that prevent the mercury from getting into your blood stream) They also use products to take orally before dental work is to be done. I have found dentists that say they are biological but they do not practice that way. You need to know how the procedures you want are to be done. Then insist the procedures are done that way. It is your health, money and time. Homeopathics treat with frequencies that are embedded in tiny sugar pellets or solution. They do not use pharmaceuticals. They can work very well. There is ahomeopathic in this group. Check the data base. A good place to start with the health of child (or even your own health) is to read " How to Raise a Healthy Child in Spite of your Doctor " by Dr. S. Mendelsohn. I think it would be a great reference book for every home. It is an old book, but can be found at Amazon.com or ebay.com If you want to contact me offline I can get you some information. _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Shold Sent: Wednesday, October 25, 2006 2:43 PM ..What is holistic and homeopathic? Are they the same word? If I went to a holistic dentist what would I expect to see versus the traditional medical dentist that I am used to? I guess I have had a preconceived notion about the word homepathy- thinking things are all natural and maybe kind of weird (not trying to offend anyone.) But as I am learning more and more I am starting to realize that all natural is not weird and that there are probably great alternatives to all of the current medical advice out there. I am now thinking that my mental picture of a kind of hippie, black light, incense burning doctor is not right! Haha! So...having a 1 year old (today!) and a 4 year old- what type of doctor and dentist would you recommend? Does anyone have any specific recommendations (we live in Eagan.)? Are these types of medicine covered by insurance (medical assistance)? --- http://USFamily.Net/dialup.html - $8.25/mo! -- http://www.usfamily.net/dsl.html - $19.99/mo! ---
Guest guest
Steph, I highly recommend Dr. Rieb at Lakeville Integrative Medicine in Lakeville for a Doctor. He's a real M.D. who is also trained in Chinese medicine and is a certified acupuncturist. I have requested all (where possible) natural medicine, no vaccinations, etc with him and they are totally respectful of it. He's totally in this natural living world, he's not just pretending:-) and I like that I can talk with him about drinking raw milk and not vaxing and he doesn't get all up in arms about it. I also like it that he's a regular M.D. because sometimes, you just need one. I do anyway. And, that makes it so that he can take insurance and I can get the natural care that I want. I can even call him with questions about remedies to take when we're sick or whatever and I like that. It's like having a regular doctor or clinic environment but with the natural care that we want. I love it. Homeopathy is different. A holistic approach to medicine combines the mind, body, spirit aspect and the basis of it (my understanding of it) is that they are connected and not separate which is different from Western medicine which tends to believe that everything is separate. Homeopathy is the practice of treating the person holistically but with remedies that gently nudge the system back into alignment. You can use homeopathy as a treatment for everything from a cold or the flu to asthma, food allergies, environmental allergies, cancer, etc. It's very specific, however and takes practice and seeing a certified Homeopathist is the best way to get started. beth Buchele (who is on this list) is excellent. For dentists, the same principles as above apply. I know that there is a Dr. King in St. Louis Park who is a holistic dentist and has come highly recommended by folks on this list. We go to Advance Family Dental in White Bear Lake. I just sent another message about them under the Dental Sealants subject if you want to check that out. Hang in there! It's challenging to sort all of this stuff out at the beginning but you're in the right place for some great information! Krista Krista Boos 952-707-1263 babymonkeytoes@...
