Guest guest
Of all the friggin things to happen. I have wrenched a muscle on the side of my lower back while sweeping the floor of all things. Now I can't bend over to pick up anything. Here I am about to peak for summer too with regard to leanness and your basic ripped looking status. I've already put in an order to hubby for 10 Vicodin because this agent blocks the pain centers in the brain so I can just keep working out. The paini probably won't affect anything but lower body and I can choose exercises other than squats though I hate to, and will be able to continue with the stair stepper machine for cardio. It's only a minor setback but still ticks me off. Since I can get the dumbbells off the rack I won't have to bend over to pick them up either. I just won't be able to put them down till I'm done with them. This is not a disc problem or anything serious, only a muscle strain which I'm not willing to wait a week or two as a couch potato when the end of the peak is so near. Yea, I'm a hardass slave driver but at least I'm that way to myself too. If I wait a week or so I'll backslide some and having to play " catch up " is a most dreaded thought. Now I'm taking my kids bowling but I'm gonna watch them and not bowl myself. Usually I do because I like it but that isn't something necessary like the working out is. Guess it was my turn in the bad luck barrel. Stasia
Guest guest
Please don't hurt yourself any more, especially with the Vicodin masking the pain! I've actually felt my back twinge a time or two while sweeping (just happened to be sweeping right now when the message came through, too!) but what I learned in physical therapy back in November and December - after I totally put myself out of comission by bending over to wash my face - was that you should tighten up your lower pelvic/ab muscles while bending or twisting for any reason whatsoever. Make sure you practice doing that to avoid future injury - it has helped me TREMENDOUSLY. I hope you feel better soon, Stasia! I guess it's our turn to support you! in WI Bad luck but it won't stop me if I can help it > Of all the friggin things to happen. Guest guest
Yikes Stasia! Please be careful you don't want to damage the muscle further. Have you considered massage therapy? or a Chiropractor? perhaps even accupuncture? How about tiger balm? I use that stuff on every soft tissue injury and on my joints. I love the stuff, it is so soothing. I am truly sorry to hear about your injury. I hope you have a speedy recovery. Keep us updated. Oh yeah maybe you could get one of those girdle back support thingys to wear while you lift so that you don't injure it further...Just a thought. Guest guest
Thanks and . Yea, I'll be careful. They do have one of those girdle things at the gym which I'll use if necessary. Today is shoulder day so a lot of that is done sitting down. Believe me I'd be first in line for a massage if there was any time in the day to do so. Actually when I got up this morning it was stiff but functional. I haven't even used any of the Vicodin because all I got was 10 (hubby's scared of the DEA)and want to use them for gym purposes. I can live with the ache otherwise. After ten days will reevaluate. Mostly I'm just ticked off over the whole thing because there's four weeks of school left and I need to hit the gym hard before I have to start doing home workouts. Thanks again, I appreciate the support. Stasia > Yikes Stasia! > Please be careful you don't want to damage the muscle further.
