MElissa - You have already taken a big step by accepting the 12 week

challenge. If you stick with it, you can make a huge difference in

the way you look and feel. I commend you for starting - just think

of the powerful example you are setting for your children. My

advice - take your before picture and post it on this board. I know

it's hard, but it is really keeping me accountable because I want to

put that final after picture next to the before! I would also ditch

the whole low carb thing if you haven't already. When I tried it

before BFL I was eating WAY too many calories and I just got bigger

and flabbier! Even after only 11 weeks on BFL - I am already a very

firm believer in regular exercise. It just makes you so much more

confident and strong - inside and out (especially the weight

lifting). You can do this! Take your picture and your measurements

so you don't base your progress on the scale. Keep us posted and

feel free to vent! :)

Hey -

Welcome. I'm pretty new here, too, and, like you, I'm not in such

great shape. There are some people on here who have been doing this

for ages and are great resources -- try to let their photos be

inspirational not demoralizing (that one can be tricky for me). But

there are also women on here who have a lot more work to do, so don't

feel like you're the only one who's starting from the bottom. One of

things I think is great about the BFL program is that you have to hit

*your* tens. Not what the guy at the gym who's showing you how to

used the machines figures you should do. So anyone can do it.

I think quality of life and your kids quality of life are great

motivators. Having a vision in my head of a situation where I missed

out because of my fitness level, keeps me going sometimes.

One thing I will say, is that I think the success of nearly any diet

or fitness program has something to do with " planning. " I agree its

easier to follow something that's laid out for you, but you still need

to plan your grocery shopping so you have the right foods in the

house, and plan your workouts (and take notes!) so you can keep

progressing.
