Guest guest
high potassium diet is best rather than tablets plus as little salt as possible ________________________________ From: Jay Man <jndaqca2009@...> hyperaldosteronism Sent: Wednesday, 18 March, 2009 4:14:43 AM Subject: Re: Re: Is AVS nesessary? Hi. I take 20meg of potassium three times a day now including 50mg of spiro twice a day. When potassium was checked it just barely hit the start of the normal range--I believe 3.5. Doctor said I have hyperaldo-doing a repeat ct on teh 23rd with different cuts and then he is referring me to surgery. I am wasting a lot fo potassium in my spot urine checks around 80-90. I only had the urine checked for potassium loss twice and thsi came with the new kidney doctor I seen last month that seems a much better doctor and am happy with. I get stomach aches since the spiro/breast tenderness which I had before came back, constipation. Potassium tablets have increased my thrist. Will keep you updated. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I'm new to this so bear with me. Guest guest
It is much better to get K in the diet than with pills. You will need at last 4000 mg of K a day which the DASH diet delivers. 20 mEq = 20 x 32 mg =640 mg. x 3 gives you only 1920 mg. You get about 700 mg with a can of low sodium V8. I would ask Dr. to change to Inspra to see if it controls BP and K without side effects. If so then stay on that while you DASH. Did spiro completely control K and BP? Many need to go up to 400 mg a day but get long term side effects like you mention. Clarence E. Guest guest
Hi. Spiro lowered my BP but did not raise my potassium too much. I see him Monday and will see whats up... I am awaiting for financial help to get the Inspra and I dont think I would be able to handle a higher dose of spiro. Will let you know and thanks.... >> > > > > > >> > > > > > > >> > > > > > > > >> > > > > > > > > >> > > > > > > > > >> > > > > > > > > I'm new to this so bear with me.
