Just to let everyone know that I have had a reply from our MP Ann Keen

to say quote - Thank you for your letter re: your concerns about health

visiting. I agree with your comments and I am happy to support your

position. To that effect I have written on your behalf to Alan Milburn

SoS for Health, passing on your remarks and asking him to look into the

matter.

She will make contact as soon as she gets a reply.

If I knew how to use my technology I would have scanned in the letter

and sent it as an attachment but well - I can't figure it out!

Well done Jean. We are back to thing about having to 'make a noise' because a

pre-election government does not like to look as if they are ignoring voters'

concerns. The one message that came out loud and clear from both sides in the

debate, is that no one is happy about the way health visiting education has been

reduced, or the way the profession has lost its ability to focus on preventive

work. As June said at the end, 'the interesting discussions start when

the formal debate ends'; that is where we have to focus now.
