Hi!

LOL, Carolyn! You sound like my DH - he isn't a big

coffee drinker. Me, on the other hand, I'm with

! I have cut back, though b/c the caffeine was

just making me way too hyper and then I'd crash and

feel worse than if I didn't have it at all.

that is a good idea about splenda and sugar. I do

that with tea. Oddly enough, with tea, I need tons of

sugar (coffee I'm okay with one spoon or none at all)

so I'll often use a splenda packet and then one or two

spoons of sugar. I really like hot tea sweet, but I

don't like sweetened iced tea. Go figure.

I really want a REAL coke now. Sigh. I knew that

trip to McD's with my DD would do me in. I'm finding

that i crave real (not diet) cola now.

Take care!

As a coffee-drinker, I have to weigh in on this.

Carolyn, how do people drink coffee? Well, my philosophy on coffee is

that if it's good enough you don't need to add anything to it. Of

course, I don't drink " regular " coffee. I drink the fancy (and more

expensive) flavored gourmet coffee that comes in whole bean form. I

grind my own every day. I don't blame you for being turned off by

that regular stuff--yuck.

Donna, the answer to the problem of crashing is simple--have another

cup! It's a natural substance which you can't get addicted to because

" addiction " only refers to things that are illegal, right? :-) I

would drop the soda though. My wife and I both quit drinking soda at

the end of last year. That stuff will make you fat in a hurry with

all the sugar. And diet just isn't good enough. (The only exception

I've made to the no-soda policy is on those very rare occasions when I

go to the movies and have to have my popcorn and soda.) And whichever

kind you drink, the carbonation is terrible on your bones.

So if you don't like regular coffee, try some " Irish cream " or some

" Streusel Cake " (which I'm drinking right now). It's one of the

simple pleasures I can enjoy each day while staying healthy. (Of

course, I only

drink two cups a day and I have plenty of water to compensate for the

dehydrating effects of the caffeine).

Gotta go refill my cup now. :-)
