Guest guest
There has been much discussion in the last month regarding the bee " goo " , etc. I was reading my French, The Art of Distillation " , 1653 edition and came across 5 more recipes for extracting the scent and spirit from honey and beeswax. Anyone interested? Jeanne Rose

That's great information to have easily available in the Files for future members who may not read back through the archives. You'll see there's a folder in the Files section for Bee Goo and Bee Products. Just click on the folder and click on " add text file " and you can cut and paste the same information you're putting into the group post to that site. THE QUINTESSENCE OF HONEY IS MADE THUS " take of the purest honey two pounds and of fountain water one pound. Boil these together until the water is boiled away, taking off the scum that rises. Then take the honey and put it into a glass, four parts of five being empty. Close it well and set it in digestion a whole year and you shall have the essence of honey swimming on the top in form of an oil, being of as fragrant smell as anything in the world. The phlegm will be in the middle, and the feculent matter in the bottom, of a dark color and with stinking smell. " There is another one using salt, another extracting with vinegar, and one using sand and beeswax. These last three we will discuss in " Natural Perfumery " , a class in March. from Jeanne Rose library of ancient books French, The Art of Distillation, 1653
