Guest guest
, I didn't catch that in the book. He was very open to me from an email contact and enjoyed being interviewed by me. I think he is a very open guy. Obviously he thinks outside the psychiatric box. My neighbor, also a psychiatrist, told me last week when I showed him the book that if HE told his patients about exercise, HE WOULD BE OUT OF BUSINESS. Now, there is a progressive thinker. Better everyone in Astoria should be on psychotrophic medications and FAT. Ann Goldeen radio interview This morning I recorded an hour long interview with Dr. Ratey, MD. We talked about his latest book, Spark. It is a really good interview. I am very proud of it. The first half about the adult brain and exercise will be broadcast on April 27th. To listen live from anywhere, go to coastradio.org and click on listen at 9:30am. If you can't listen then, at anytime later than that go to on demand (the archives) and pick the program you want ( arranged by date, guest and topic) and download as a podcast. The second half of the program is about children and will be broadcast in June. Also on June 8th I will be interviewing O'Brien, DC, an expert in gluten intolerance will discuss his favorite subject. If you want to motivate your patients to exercise, have them read this book, or listen to the interview or you read the book and tell them what you learn. Guest guest
What he mentions extensively is that movement stimulates brain derived neurotrophic factor. What is the first thing that happens with adjusting? Stimulation of mechanorecptors and excitement of the brain... producing BDNF! So, in addition to other benefits from adjusting, we help give birth to new neurons. Chestnut talks about this stuff too! And if we help our patients find an active lifestyle with increased movement and activity we help doubly!
