I just answered this on your group, , so I'll repost it here: Mandy Aftel called me the other day about the Guild closing. i was once a member, but let my membership lapse, so she had my phone #. She asked if she could direct the members of the Guild to my Natural Perfumery discussion group on , since they would be looking for another forum. I said yes, of course. She explained that the workload of maintianing the Guild was much too much work. I know how it is, you have to prioritize. She has a new book coming out, students to attend to, and other projects that she needs to tend to. It is a shame that she has to close it, as it is/was a great concept and way to educate and expand the knowledge base of, Natural Perfumery. My discussion group is by no way a substitute for the Guild, we're just a group that 'talks'. However, other than the benefits of belonging to a Guild, that is what the members liked to do -talk- on the Guild website. There is nothing like working out a problem with others, discussing a product or oil/absolute (etc.), because it is so hard to create in a vacuum. I believe Mandy has many classes coming up over the next year, so people can stilll connect with her that way, both in person or via distance learning.
