Guest guest
Hi Lorraine - I haven't made the brownies yet (for the same reasons you stated) but I love the chocolate PB oatmeal. If it's too solid and chunky try adding more water before you cook it. I had some this morning and used 1/2 c of oats and 1 cup of water along with the scoop of choc protein powder. It's definitely way different than regular oatmeal, though. I have a hard time with plain old oatmeal, but this I can handle. Maybe it's the brand of protein powder? I use Myopro Whey. in WI Chocolate oatmeal and walnut brownies from EFL.... > Has anyone tried either of these? Guest guest
I followed the recipe in the book....I'll have to try your ratio. I tried adding more water after the fact, but it was kind of like trying to break up a sponge to mix it in....nasty. I just bought a BIG container of chocolate whey protein at GNC. I tried a shake this morning with banana in it, it was REALLY good. BTW...what are bananas considered? I couldn't find them on the list. > Hi Lorraine - > > I haven't made the brownies yet (for the same reasons you stated) but I love > the chocolate PB oatmeal. Guest guest
I haven't tried either but do know I can't stand protein powder in my oatmeal. If I'm stuck eating it, I add it in after it's cooked. I tried the recipe with Cream of wheat and protein powder and forgot, followed the recipe and added it before...gave it to the dogs It had a solid chunky consistency also. Guest guest
Finally, something I can help with! I've made both of these recipes. Chocolate oatmeal: I eat it all the time and love it. You might want to try experimenting w/ a little more water, a little less protein powder, and/or a shorter cooking time. Mine usually comes out a good consistency following the EFL directions, but once or twice I've cooked it too long or gone light on the water and it's ended up a bit chunky. Walnut brownies: these are OK, but definitely don't expect them to satisfy your sweet tooth. They taste more like the whole wheat, sugar- free brownies you buy at health food stores. Kind of wheaty and wholesome-tasting and not too sweet. That said, my husband and I ate almost the whole batch because they taste OK in their own right as long as you're not expecting a real brownie taste. Hope this is helpful! Guest guest
I just bought some protein whey today which is supposed to be virtually tasteless...I'm planning on putting it in my oatmeal. Also, tried a couple of EFL recipes today..they were wonderful!! The cool taco salad (excellent) and spanish omlette (eggs never tasted so good)!! Almost seemed like my free day but not quite...can't wait for the popcorn and butter tomorrow!!! > > Has anyone tried either of these?
