Salty snacks?

Is there anything I can buy or make to munch when I get a salt

craving? (potoato chips, pretzels and the like) I can't handle plain

popcorn, I have to have butter, so that's out. I read that you can

have pumpkin seeds or baked whole wheat tortilla's (I'd salt them) on

some other plans...

And I was thinking since we're going out for Valentines day...maybe

pasta with a marinara sauce or a small steak and baked potato (I'll

bring Butter Buds).

Would those be okay?

So many questions...hate to be a pain.

For a salty snack you could have soy nuts. They come in flavors like barbecue,

jalapeño, or onion. They're about equal in protein and carbs so they would make

a complete meal. You can get them at health food stores or probably order them

online.

I also like nuts when I'm having a salt fit. They do have some protein in them

but they're mainly fat/carb. So, I have a few almonds or peanuts balanced with a

protein shake or cottage cheese. The tricky part is stopping after a few nuts

and not wiping out the whole can. Watch the calories and serving sizes.

If you go out to eat, a small serving of pasta and marinara is fine as long as

there's a big piece of chicken on it. Steak and potato is good too. Get a salad

with dressing on the side and steer clear of the bread basket. When I go out to

eat on a non-free day special occasion, I tend to stick to lean meat and veggies

for the meal and save all my carbs for a few bites of cheesecake. :-)

Hi Lorraine :-)

When I first started doing this, I was not prepared to skip my

morning orange juice. I had to have it. Then I remembered

something a weight watchers leader said once. She told me that

sometimes she'd be going over the programme with a new person, and

she'd suggest things like low fat yoghurt. They'd say " oh I don't

eat low fat yoghurt, I only eat the regular kind " . And she'd say to

them, well eating that way is what got you unhealthy and overweight

in the first place - if you want to change your body of course you

have to change what you put in it. I suppose my using yoghurt isn't

a good example as it's really not that bad for you, but I couldn't

think of another example and couldn't remember the food she was

talking about. Anyway, I stopped having orange juice, and I no

longer miss it. You can do the same.

Remember, if you do what you've always done, you'll get what you

always got.

12 weeks is such a short time, you can go without those things for

12 weeks. At the end of it you'll still have to regulate yourself,

but there is no reason why you can't go without those things for 6

days a week, 12 weeks in a row. There's always free day!
