Hi all!

If you've read my health diary you already know some of this, but I

went to an airshow on Sunday, it was a terrible disaster. I ended up

sunburned, among other things, but now I'm having problems with the

sunburn. Mostly my legs. Well, one leg in particular. My right leg

is very painful and swollen. My left, which was not as badly burned,

is swollen, but not as bad. My leg isn't actually all that red, it

just is very painful, unlike any sunburn I've had before. I'm burned

on my neck and face as well, but not like my legs. Anyone know if

this could be diabetes related?

Hello

I know the elevation routine well since that's what they say to do for

CHF. It's basically just propping up the feet and propping up the

head. For CHF, having most of the lungs above the heart helps you

breathe by draining the blood from the lungs and having your feet

elevated helps drain the feet which would otherwise balloon up into

blimps. Having your feet and knees propped up tends to counter act the

sliding down effect of having your head propped up which is really

annoying especially in those hospital beds with the vinyl mattresses.

The elevation does help though. I guess the heart just has to stir the

blood up every now and then instead of pumping it around when you're in

that position.

It's been my experience that when something happens to me and they pat

me on the back and send me home, I'd have to be back in a few hours in

a much worse condition. Of course, now they just hospitalize me as

soon as they see me.
