who likes what for making an eye mask? I have see flax with lavender

buds, which sounds very soothing, but more for stress than the eyes.

What would others recommend?

many thanks,

In Southern California Native tradition Wild Buckwheat is used

for the eyes as an eye wash (after steepingand straining) and as

an eye relaxant. My father, a Naturalist/Historian for the State has

sworn by it for deacades. I have used it with success also.

It is the Buckwheat associated with Coastal Sage Scrub that

grows wild here on the hills....I do not know if there is a domestic

one that can be substituted. I will ask him for the Latin name.

Was this for a mask encased in fabric or something to put on

soaked cotton pads and applied to closed lids? This buckwheat

tea would work for the latter.

The buckwheat I have heard about, but have never been able to find it

anywhere--

I have heard of rice, which one can microwave, or chill, as well, and

I suspect one can do this with flax seed, as tiny as it is.

I am attempting to make an eye mask which has filler, (aromatic or

not) encased in fabric, which fits over the eyes, and then this mask

is encased in a loose casing of sorts, for cleaning purposes. It

would simply rest on the closed eyelids, so it needs to be

lightweight, and it also needs to be something soothing and non-toxic

on eyes.

thanks for the info on buckwheat though. Let me know if you find a

latin nomer...
