I mentioned an idea rolling around in the 'ol bean that I called the mentor program. I really think this could be a very beneficial program, but I'm having some difficulty with it and I decided why not ask the members, they could have some great ideas! For that matter, if you have ideas on any kind of program (as you know I am constantly trying to improve our group and it's help of the members, but keeping the responsibility to a minimum) please let me know! Now...my ideas with the mentor program are to have some people who can 'sponsor' a member who is having problems, or who may be facing an illness that is life threatening. The problem is, I *must* maintain one rule: no obligations. Since we are all ill, we need to minimize the responsibility. If someone is ill, they shouldn't feel obligated to perform duties, as this will add stress to their lives, negating the helpfulness of a support group in the first place. This is where I am stuck. The premise for the mentor program is so that the member has a person or persons that they can get to know, since facing a group can be intimidating. Responsibility cannot fall on only one person, since we all need our little vacations, with exception of me. I take the group owner role very seriously, and am only absent when I need be. I could do this all on my own, I guess. I'm thinking maybe we can have a mentor email address, and if someone is in need, they can send an email to that address, and a group of volunteers can choose whether or not they will participate. This is what I've come up with so far. What do you think?

Thanks for helping, our members are the best!

Hugs,

Kum
