Hello Rosie,

If you do live in Australia, there are two child psychiatrists, Drs. Chris

Wever and Neil , who have written The Secret Problem, a book about

OCD for children. They practice in Concord, Sydney. The email for their

book publisher, Shrink Rap Press is shrap@..., fax no is 02 743

5936. Hope this lead will lead you to them or to other CBT therapists for

your son.

Take care,

Aureen P. Wagner, Ph.D.

PS: Rosie, Dr. Wever is at the Rivendell Child, Adolescent and Family

Program, and established the Rivendell OCD program, if that means anything

to you.

Aureen Wagner, Ph.D.

This is the book that one of the child psychs gave me to read then

exploded because I had the audacity to show it to Brenton for his

opinion!

Hi Rosie:

Books (and videos) have been an incredibly helpful way of educating Steve

about his OCD. It helps to reinforce that OCD is real, not just him

thinking he is crazy, and that he is not alone. Also reading these books

has been very helpful at providing relative low to moderate levels of

exposure therapy.

You might want to ask the docs why it is such a bad idea to have Brenton

read this book (or others like it)? Good luck, take care, aloha, Kathy (H)

kathyh@...

P.S. Mitzi Waltz's book, " Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Help for Children

and Adolescents " has information for various countries. A couple of web

sites she lists are: Association for Relatives and Friends of the Mentall

Ill (ARAFMI) http://www.span.com.au/mhrc/arafmi.html and Obsessive

Compulsive Disorders Support Group, Inc.,

http://www.span.com.au/mhrc/obsessive.html. Mitzi used to be a member of

this group. K.
