OMAGAWD! Rosemary! My dear, dear soul...I can hardly type for the

shaking. Losing your beloved Vinnie is terrible, especially on the

heels of such a joyous occasion, and we are all grieving with you. I

don't know what to say except that I am holding you and your family in

love and light. We are ALL here for you and if there is anything we

can do, simply ask. I can even come up there if you wish -- my family

is in PA and it's an easy drive.

I know you are still in shock and as many of us on the list know the

patterns of emotional responses with the loss of a loved one. Never

forget that we are here when you need us.

-Ginny Ivanoff

Does anyone in the group have Rosemary's physical address? Doris,

thank you for passing this on to us.

Pat,

What sweet words to Rosemary. And so true. I lost my first husband to heart

trouble when I was 32. Grief is such a personal thing. No one can tell us

when or how long or where we should grieve. It has to flow from within .....

and only when it is expressed, in our own personal ways, are we able to move

forward.

Thanks for sharing what most of us feel inadequate to say.

Hello to all my MGB friends,

I came on the computer a little this morning before I head back to two

different hospitals, I have not been able to even open the computer this

past week. It was my 60 th birthday on Oct 23 and without my Vinnie here for

me it was not a happy time. My family ( my children and grandchilderen were

here with me and also part of Vinnie's family. Then the next day the earth

comes falling down again on the family, Vinnie's brother was going to visit

a friend at St Francis Hospital ( a very well know heart hospital) and

never made it inside the hospital to visit his friend, he parked the car and

was walking to the main entrance, apparently he didn't feel well and he must

of sat on the benches right outside the main entrance to the hospital, and he

had a massive heart attack, now we do not know how long he stayed on that

bench, but someone called inside and they came to get him , he was already

blue, and when they brought him in the emergency room he had flatlined, they

managed to revive him and he is in very, very critical condition, he is

hooked up to all different machines and is in cardiac intensive care, they

give him less than 50% chance, since then they have had to shock him back

four or five times already, they have him sedated and do not know the extent

of damage, they say when they finish all the tests they want him to wake up

and for us all to talk to him so they can see if there is brain damage,

because they do not know how long he was on the bench, and with out oxygen it

effects the brain. Yesterday, my other brother in law had kidney stones

surgery , I went to Winthrope hospital at 7:30 am to be with Vinnie's sister

during her husband's operation (which Vinnie would have been there , he was

always there for everyone) then when they took him to the recovery room, at

about ll:45 I left to go to Saint Francis Hospital to see Vinnie's brother,

he is still very, very crutical and they did an angiogram yesterday and he

has two blockadges 100% that is why he had the massive attack, only one at

100% is enough for a heart attack. But they say there is a lot of damage and

he is very very weak, so we shall see today, it is very hard being in the

hospital and Vinnie's brother looks so much like Vinnie, I pray to God and

ask all of you for prayers, it isn't even 30 days yet that my Vinnie has died

and now this. I do not know how much more me and my kids, can take. I do

not know what is happening. Well I just wanted to touch base and ask for all

of your prayers, I must get ready to go to both hospitals again and then to

my daughter's who is still not well with pneamonia ( she has a 2 year old ).

Love you all, Rosemary Commisso

Rosemary, I'm so sorry to hear of all that's going wrong right now. We can only

hope that this terrible cycle ends soon so that you have a chance to heal from

Vinnie's passing. Those of us who have been married a long time understand what

it would be like to lose our life partners. Please know that you have friends

who love you and are praying for you daily.

Rosemary, my heart sank for you when I read it was your birthday. I wish

you would have told us, we would have rallied around you! Well, we still

can!

I think that helping others is a wonderful way to cope with our own pain,

HOWEVER, take some time to identify if you are doing tooooo much right now?

Please don't push too much. You don't want to risk your health, physical

and/or mental with running around so much.

Of course Vinnie was there for his brother, in fact, I am sure when he

flatlined, Vinnie spoke to him from the other side. If it is Gods will to

take your brother in law, just accept it. You don't have to LIKE IT, just

know that God has a reason for everything.

Please take care of yourself. You will feel the pain of Vinnies absence

forever, time doesn't heal wounds, it just allows you to be able to live

with them and in time be happy again, trust me in this and remember love

never dies.

Aumesh,

i think the fact that so far the reduction seems to be working to due to the increase in imuran. the last time that he had a flare up, his enzymes his alt's and alt's were only in the 100s and he was on 25 mgs of pred at the time and 125 of imuran. the prednisone dosage was not up'd this time but the imuran was. this so far as done the trick. this was in April of 2001. since then we have slowly, very slowly been decreasing his pred. we alternate the previous dosage and the new dosage for a few weeks and then go straight to the new dosage. we go especially slow when he is having exams, school just starting or times when he is really stressed so that may have had an impact also. we at no time have ever lowered his dosages unless blood work has been normal for several weeks. at one time hunt was on as much as 60mgs of pred. i do not want him to go through that again and from 60 it takes quite a while to get down to the level he is now. please respond and ask me any more questions. to tell you the truth, if i think the DR is suggesting that he reduce faster than i think he should, we just don;t do it. maybe wrong but it sure has work. the DR is aware when we do this and it is fine with him also.

Rosemary,

Raj seems to be doing fine with the classes and the dorm life (has the room

to himself). We had him take the meningitis and the flu shots. Given that

he is in the city, the advantage is that he comes quite often and we got to

see him and keep an eye on his condition. I do not know if you saw my

previous mails to the list, but for last 6 months Raj tried slowly reducing

Prednisone (starting from 10 mg/day, 2.5 mg per month reduction). The idea

was to see if he can go into remission given that he has been on the

medicines for about 2 years. It did not work as in end of October his Mayo

doctor asked him to reinstitute the Prednisone.

Nice to know that Hunt's Pred dosage has been coming down successfully. One

question that I have is how high Hunt's enzymes (ALT, AST and others) were

during

the reduction and what strategy worked for them in dose reduction since he

had relapses. How slowly was the Pred reduced -- did his doctor reduce it

2.5 mg at a time or less; or did the doc try different strategy every time

and which one worked (like waiting further reducing Pred until the enzymes

came down to normal)? Answers to these questions will help us in charting

a course for Raj for next time around. We will be seeing his Mayo doc at

the end of December. please feel free to reply directly to me if you would

rather prefer that.

Thanks for sharing.

Hi Rosemary: I bet you were about to have a stroke. I am 48 also and

haven't been able to have babies for 20 years but if I were in your place and

there was a chance I would jump off the tallest building I could find. LOL

I love babies too, my Colton is the light of my life but I can sent him home

with Jodi when it's time.

Thinking of you, been where you are and understand completely.

Hello to you ...and Hunt...

I tried to IM you yesterday but I guess it did not go thru or something...

I saw that you wrote that Hunt is having some set back and not getting good labs.....That really was quite a jump....

Unfortunately I have not been able to be on here very much....

Our computer bit the dust and so I have to use Tylers....which is in his room...so I have to steal my time on here....Usually my nights are the best time...but Ty is on doing homework....or with friends playing games on here....plus have just been really busy.....

When I saw your post about Hunt I had to find the time to get on here....and let you know that we are thinking about him and hope that ....as you said that maybe he was just being Hunt and not being careful with his meds...you are so right....that would be the easiest to fix....

and you are right....being away at college....and being with so many others around his age....does not promote him to think of himself...health wise...especially when he was feeling well....my other son was 19 when he moved to Conn...and started to feel bad...he has UC since he was 3.....called his doctors in Pa...same ones Tyler goes to...and started on pred.....would start to feel well.....and even thought I would remind him to wean off slowly he would just stop.....then in a couple of weeks he would be bad again....he did that for about 4 months...and ended up moving home and going in the hosp ....REALLY sick.....Unfortunately they insist on learning the hard way...which just kills us moms....No offense guys...but I think most guys are like that....they almost have to be dying before they go to the dotors....with us wives or moms or girlfriends pushing them all the way...something in their DNA....Nobody pushes us females to go to the docs...we are just better at that....oh well....

I hope that I will be able to connect with you sometime on the Instant Message soon....
