Thyroid problems can masquarade as ADD. The thyroid test came back

normal but everyone I talk to says the test never tells the whole

story. My son has had a QEEG with lots of theta everywhere. His

assessment says the same thing. Thyroid problems run in our

family. He is not responding to training. Is there any way to

definitely tell if it's thyroid or brain function.

Depends on what type of thyroid problems and what type of thyroid test he had done. Often, just a TSH is done as a screen, but there are other measures of thyroid function. If you still have concerns, you may want to see a pediatric endocrinologist

I agree the type of thyroid test can make all the difference but you need to know which ones to ask for and it's been awhile since I've done that - with many doctors if you don't ask for it they won't suggest it.Marie <mtrenga1@...> wrote:

Lynn,

Did you have them run a thyroid cascade test, checking t3 and t4 (boy, those sound familiar, don't they? But different t3 and t4.)?
